Having just watched another sick joke of an extraordinary Senate session gavel out (after taking on the sole weighty subject of wishing Owen Johnson a happy (80th) birthday), I've started to thinking about the possibility for some other sorts of coalitions forming to break the current 31-31 partisan-based standoff.
For example, if all of the members with Districts primarily outside of NYC were to get together, they'd have a 36 to 26 majority. Given the City's dominant grip on the Assembly and the Executive branch, this sort of arrangement might not be a bad thing for better balancing City v. suburban/rural NY interests.
