| I've successfully converted the 2004-2005 pork grants into a more usable text form, and did a little sleuthing into one of Marty Golden's biggest grants, a $120,000 grant to an organization called HeartShare.
Why start with Golden? Well, he's the sole Republican in Brooklyn, my home borough. It's always bothered me about the way it seems like he's been able to buy his way into popularity, and thus, into office, so I figured, why not start with him?
Findings on the flip. |
| In the 2003-2004 funding cycle, a non-profit named Heartshare received $20,000. In the following cycle, it receiving $120,000 from Marty Golden's office, according to the Pork report.
According to Heartshare's website, the following is its current Board of Directors:
Ralph A. Subbiondo, Chairman
Robert Charles Golden, First Vice Chair
John T. Sharkey, Second Vice Chair
Michael J. Abatemarco, Treasurer
Paul J. Torre, Secretary
Since 2002, they have each (except Torre) donated to Golden's campaign:
Subbiondo: $6,950
Golden: $30,725
Sharkey: $5,650
Abatemarco: $1,375
Total: $44,700
Additionally, it seems possible (although unconfirmed), that Robert C. Golden is related to Marty.
Bottom line: Members of the HeartShare Board donated $44,700 to Golden's campaign and got a $120,000 grant from Golden's office. Coincidence? |
